Healing the Connection Between Mind and Body.

It is difficult to know where to begin when you struggle with hyperawareness of your symptoms, especially when you are suffering with anxiety, trauma or major life changes. Connecting to your body can support getting out of your head and into the present to make space to cope with your experiences safely.

About

Focusing on cultivating connection within the self

I embrace a strengths-based approach to therapy, with the belief that each client possesses a unique set of skills and strengths. I aim to understand and meet the needs of each person and/or couple through an understanding that each person has multiple identities and life experiences that influence their beliefs and perceptions of the world around them, including themselves. To support the exploration and deepening the understanding of the self and in couples sessions, each other, I utilized an interactive approach to therapy. My goal is to cultivate building safety and trust in the therapeutic relationship with an awareness that sometimes therapy is the only space clients may have to process and share. With that in mind, I integrate various evidence based treatments, with a focus on somatic and mindfulness, which supports a bottoms up approach. Think of it as getting out of your head and into your body, while I also utilize cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy as a support for a healthy relationship between the mind and the body. I will often assign tasks between sessions to support the learning and process done in session. I navigate all in session and out of session tasks and experiences with a collaborative lens because I believe that clients are experts on themselves and should be actively involved in their treatment experience. As a Registered-Associate, I am under the supervision of Angie Gilchrist-Stewart, LPC.
